Background:
Singapore-based ride-hailing app TADA is set to launch in New York City in June 2026. Founded by South Korean entrepreneurs Kay Woo and Jay Han, the app connects drivers and riders directly, offering fair earnings for drivers and lower costs for passengers.
“We don’t act as an intermediary. Our platform is simply software for both drivers and riders, who only pay a small fee to use the network,” said Woo in a December 24 interview with Fortune. TADA’s “zero commission model” charges drivers a flat software fee of roughly 78 to 92 cents per ride, rather than taking a percentage of earnings, distinguishing it from traditional ride-hailing services.
TADA started in Singapore in 2018 and has been growing across Asia. The app also expanded to Cambodia and Vietnam in 2019, and to Thailand and Hong Kong in 2024. In the U.S., TADA is currently testing its platform in Denver before its official New York launch.
Woo describes TADA’s New York entry as a full-circle moment. After initial entrepreneurial ventures in the city, like a social gathering app in 2012 that failed, Woo and Han returned to Asia in 2014 to digitalize cross-border mobility between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Seeing gaps in traditional ride-hailing, they launched TADA in Singapore, taking advantage of the city’s population and infrastructure.
TADA earns money through platform fees, selling MVL tokens, and sharing anonymized driving data with partners. Woo believes that popular ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft need to change. He says TADA will give drivers more choice and offer a fairer system for both drivers and riders.
TADA’s New York launch will offer fair pay for drivers and affordable rides for passengers.
