Background
GNC and DFI Retail Group have expanded their partnership to increase access to health and wellness products in Singapore. Under the new three-year arrangement, DFI will become GNC’s exclusive wholesaler, distributor and franchisee across Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore.
DFI will manage sales, marketing, distribution and logistics for GNC products. In Singapore, customers will be able to buy GNC vitamins, minerals, sports nutrition and other wellness products through Guardian stores and online channels. GNC will also reopen standalone stores, with locations to be announced later.
The expanded partnership builds on a two-decade relationship between GNC and DFI in Hong Kong. Singapore marks the next stage of their cooperation in Asia.
Since 1997, GNC has been doing business in Singapore and has managed to develop a sizeable client base due to the company’s health and wellness products. Guardian from DFI has also established a very good reputation in the health and beauty retailing sector in Singapore.
This collaboration follows rising demand for dietary supplements in Singapore. The market is expected to expand at an annual rate of 9.5% between 2025 and 2030, supported by greater health awareness, an ageing population and rising interest in preventive care.
The move also follows a legal development in May, when Singapore’s Court of Appeal upheld GNC’s rights to take over leases of its former stores. GNC is now working to complete the transfer of the relevant leases.
Products from GNC are expected to reach Singapore customers through Guardian and GNC stores from the fourth quarter of 2026. The companies expect the expanded retail network to strengthen GNC’s presence and give consumers easier access to its health and wellness range.
DFI Retail Group operates more than 7,600 outlets across 12 markets and employs over 81,000 people.
