Background :
Great Eastern Holdings reported higher sales and stronger business value in the first quarter of 2026, supported mainly by solid performance in Singapore and continued demand for insurance products.
The insurance group said its total weighted new sales increased 16 percent year-on-year to S$401.9 million from S$345.1 million in the same period last year. The company attributed the growth to sustained momentum in Singapore, where insurance sales continued to perform strongly across key business segments.
The company’s new business embedded value also rose 31 percent to S$195.4 million during the quarter. Great Eastern said the increase reflected improved sales performance and a stronger product mix focused on long-term value creation.
Profit attributable to shareholders remained stable compared with the previous year despite a weaker investment environment. The company said improved insurance profits and positive reserve releases helped support overall earnings and reflected strong underlying business fundamentals.
While Singapore remained the key growth driver, sales in Malaysia were largely unchanged as market demand for insurance products stayed soft amid cautious consumer sentiment.
The group also maintained strong capital adequacy levels across its insurance subsidiaries, with ratios remaining above minimum regulatory requirements. The company maintained a strong financial position during the quarter. Demand for protection and savings products in Singapore also remained steady.
